remarks to bear on the Corinthians’ claim to be “knowledgeable” with regard to food offered to idols. The first is that not some but all Christians have knowledge (v. 1b). The second is that knowledge is to be distinguished from love (v. 1c). The third is that those who think that they know something, the know-it-alls, really do not have a correct kind of knowledge (v. 2). The fourth is that knowledge of God is reciprocal and this seems to be something the Corinthians have not understood (v. 3).
